The UN’s World Food Programme warned on Wednesday that El Niño could push 50 million people into acute hunger before the end of next year. This weather system, the strongest in 70 years, threatens global food supplies. Richard Choularton said, “The biggest food security impact will be during the 2027-2028 season.”
