Beyond the fabs: What Semicon 2.0 plans for equipment, chip design, research and skills
The government launched Semicon 2.0 in August with a ₹1,27,500 crore outlay to boost chip design, research, and equipment manufacturing. Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "Companies had shown investment interest of around $11-12 billion." This six-year programme aims to build a strong supply chain beyond just setting up new fabs.
