Cooper pairs found above superconducting critical temperature in pair density waves
Physicists at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign found a new form of superconducting behavior in uranium ditelluride. They showed that Cooper pairs form pair density waves above the critical temperature. Eduardo Fradkin said, "Pair density waves are the Cheshire Cat's grin of superconductivity," as they persist after the phase disappears.
