Scientists just made a superconductor stronger using “empty space”
Scientists led by Profs. Changgan Zeng and Guanghui Cheng published a study in Nature about strengthening superconductors. By placing NbSe2 inside a terahertz dark cavity, they amplified vacuum fluctuations to raise the material's critical temperature. Prof. Zeng said, "To overcome this limitation, we introduced a terahertz split-ring resonator."
