Scientists went looking for giant trees in Taiwan and found a lost world

The Taiwan tree seekers group started their search in 2014 to find giant trees. In 2023, they identified an 84.1-meter-tall Taiwania fir, now the tallest in East Asia. The Indigenous Rukai people call these giants "The tree that hits the moon." Many old-growth forests survived because the terrain was inaccessible.
