518-million-year-old creature reveals the origins of spider fangs
A new study published in Nature traces the origins of spider fangs to Urokodia, a small marine creature from the early Cambrian Period. Researchers used X-ray technology on fossils from Yunnan, China, to find pincer-like appendages. These structures show how early chelicerates started using specialized tools to hunt their prey.
