Shivakumar cabinet strikes caste balance

The Karnataka government on Monday defended its cabinet expansion by showing a detailed community-wise break-up of posts. Officials said the ministry was structured to reflect social diversity. Leaders from SC, ST, OBC and minority groups got 23 of 38 key positions, while Lingayats and Vokkaligas also kept many important ministerial berths.
