Maharashtra bans non-dairy paneer, violators face 6 months in jail, Rs 1 lakh fine

Maharashtra has banned the manufacture and sale of non-dairy paneer to stop fake products. The July 30 order says violators face six months in jail and a Rs 1 lakh fine. Officials started this move to protect consumers from adulterated food, as many shops sold vegetable fat as real milk paneer.
