Congress's shock Datia bypoll victory triggers BJP overhaul, district chief fired

The BJP dissolved its entire Datia district unit after losing the July 30 by-election. Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh defeated BJP’s Ashutosh Tiwari by 6,016 votes. Following this setback, the party fired district president Raghuveer Singh Kushwaha and formed a two-member committee to investigate why they lost the seat so badly.
