Right to walk safely: SC orders Centre to ensure pedestrian walkways, reaffirms it as fundamental right

The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the Centre to ensure encroachment-free pedestrian zones on all roads. The bench said, “Without any big investment and construction, just ensure that proper demarcation is done of walkers' space.” This directive follows a June 19 verdict declaring the right to walk a fundamental right.
