Suvendu Adhikari called Mamata Banerjee the principal adviser to "dimaagi Naxals" on Tuesday. He urged the Delhi Police and Central Intelligence Bureau to keep close surveillance on her activities. Suvendu said, "She is going to hold discussions with the dimaagi Naxals," while Mamata traveled to Delhi for an INDIA meeting.
Suvendu also urged the Delhi Police and the Central Intelligence Bureau to keep close surveillance on her activities to find out whether there would be any meetings with anti-national forces
Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday called Mamata Banerjee the principal adviser to "dimaagi Naxals" on the day his predecessor left Calcutta for Delhi to attend Wednesday's INDIA bloc meeting.
"She (Mamata) has now become the principal adviser to the dimaagi Naxals. On one hand, there is the Jamaat, and on the other, the dimaagi Naxals; she is moving forward with both," Suvendu told reporters at the BJP's Salt Lake state office before attending Janatar Darbar.
Suvendu had always accused Mamata and her party of having connections with the "Jamaat" of Bangladesh. He launched a massive campaign before the Assembly election that Mamata would turn the state into another Bangladesh if she came to power for a fourth consecutive term.
However, the chief minister used the phrase "dimaagi Naxal" against Mamata for the first time, especially after she had said that she would have no problem joining hands with the CPM to safeguard electoral democracy.
"Dimaagi Naxal" was first uttered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech this year.
Suvendu also urged the Delhi Police and the Central Intelligence Bureau to keep close surveillance on her activities to find out whether there would be any meetings with anti-national forces.
"The INDI alliance is wrecked. She is going to hold discussions with the dimaagi Naxals. Everyone knows what someone who raises the slogan of 'Azadi' can do. I would urge the Delhi Police and the Central IB to keep a very close watch and ensure that there are no further meetings with any anti-national forces," added the chief minister.
After reaching Delhi, Mamata told reporters that she would speak in detail after Wednesday's meeting but made it clear that her visit was to target the chief election commissioner (CEC), Gyanesh Kumar. She called Kumar "Vanishji".
"Our target is the (chief) election commissioner and his full software (IT) team who cheated and betrayed the people. I will speak in this connection tomorrow. From the very beginning, we call him (CEC) Vanishji," said the former chief minister.
Mamata and her party have repeatedly mocked Gyanesh Kumar as "Vanish Kumar" since the SIR began in Bengal.
On Tuesday afternoon, Suvendu used his social media handle to mount a sharp attack on Congress and its allies, highlighting how the Grand Old Party accepts the Election Commission's decisions if it wins elections in any state and comes up with allegations against the poll body only where it is defeated.
"The double standards of the Congress party and its opportunistic alliance partners stand completely exposed once again. When it comes to Constitutional bodies and established electoral procedures like the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the Congress follows a singular, shameless doctrine: Heads I win, tails the system is rigged," Suvendu wrote on his X social media handle.
He cited the example of Kerala, where the Congress won the elections. He said the SIR was hailed in Kerala by the Congress when it won the election.
"Yet, the moment the very same Special Intensive Revision (SIR) takes place in states where Congress and its allies face inevitable defeat, the script flips overnight," Suvendu wrote.
"Hypocrisy has a limit, but for the Congress and its allies, duplicity remains their only permanent policy!" he added.
Kunal Ghosh, Beleghata MLA of Mamata's Trinamool, however, claimed that the chief minister's statement was a panic reaction.
"He (Suvendu) still considers Mamata Banerjee his main rival. As she has gone to Delhi and is taking a leading role in Wednesday's meeting, he reacted in panic," said Ghosh.
CPM leaders had also claimed that Suvendu was afraid of Wednesday's INDIA bloc meeting and mocked him for branding Mamata as a "dimaagi Naxal".
"He is basically afraid of tomorrow's meeting. Anyone can't become a dimaagi Naxal suddenly. If he claims Mamata Banerjee is an adviser to the dimaagi Naxals, then why did the BJP ally with her even before Suvendu Adhikari joined the BJP?" asked CPM central committee member Sujan Chakraborty.
