Anti-Cruelty Law For Married Women Applies To Those In Live-Ins: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court said women in live-in relationships get protection under Section 498A of the IPC. This law covers harassment by husbands or in-laws. The court noted that denying this protection to women in relationships like marriage violates Article 14. However, this rule applies only if the intent to marry exists.
