Indian industry seeks legal backing of gene editing in Seed Bill

India may formally adopt gene editing by mentioning it in the proposed Seed Bill. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Bill is ready for Parliament. Industry bodies want legal backing to improve crop breeding, though some groups object to transgenic terms. The government received 14,000 suggestions for the draft.
